Character Analysis: Get To Know King

Updated: May 20, 2024

The many faces of King
The many faces of King

There are a lot of characters on The Seven Deadly Sins that seem to fall short of the mark of greatness. For a very long time, King was one of those characters. While watching the show he was often shown as the weakest of the sins and wouldn't have many redeeming qualities other than his love for Diane and the relationships he makes along the way. I'm a proud fan of King's overall arch, even if others think that he is not worth the energy. Let me give you a quick introduction to the sweetest boy on the block, King!

Often floating on a green pillow, King is a character that strikes you as simple. King of the Faries and an outcast as a marked Sin, King's self confidence falls flat. His defense and fighting skills are about average for a majority of the show and you can tell when he falls back into the background compared to ban or Meliodas. Even Hocks gets more screen time than King sometimes. But don't count him out. His love for Diane allows him to dig deep and grow a pair long enough to help save the day time and again. Sure, he can be a bit of a coward sometimes, but when you see him step up and fight for real, watch out. As the show progresses, he learns to value himself and take his training seriously. His glow-up is one that may come off as lukewarm to some, but it is worth the wait. What he lacks in confidence he makes up in sweetness and sincerity. If it wasn't for Diane being his driving force, I'm not sure what kind of guy King would've turned out to be.

Like I said, most people don't like King because of his wimpy exterior, and I hear ya. There are moments throughout the show that I personally can't help but empathize with and love King for all he is. Yes, his dialogue can get a bit annoying sometimes, but over time you just get used to it. I wish I could give King more of a shine with some juicy details, but alas my lips are sealed.

Expand Your Mind...

Let's face it, language learning isn't easy. But it can be fun and ultimately unite us across Lahnds and Rehlms. All we have to do is expand our minds. This is easiest understood by those who speak Earth English, but other languages from other places may also understand this language lesson.

Tip #1: Laugh every time you mess up and then try again. Every mistake is an opportunity to learn and grow. Embrace it!
