For the last two years, we've had a certain look to our word vomit journals that held animations and lots of color. While we still have the challenges available in that format, our journals needed an upgrade. Check out our newest collection of paperback journals!

A Quick Tales Tip!

October is the beginning of many celebrations. Make sure that you're prepared for gatherings with friends and family before the month slips you by. Preparing in advance is the key to being a good host. It's also the key to making a good story or anything, now that I think about it. Bottom line: be prepared.

Define Your Month!

Myths with Tibs

Tidbit Fall photo

Hey! Tidbit here!

October is such a magical time for myths, both spooky and not so spooky. I personally enjoy a good dark romance this time of year. Last month, we explored Enlil and his destructive nature.

This month, we're taking a trip to India to learn about the Living Goddess, also known as the Mother Goddess. It is said that no Hindu God can function without his female consort, so it shouldn't be a surprise to learn that thousands of divine figures are more female than male. One goddess in particular, Kali the destroyer, seems to dominate the scene. Is it because she is a grieving mother who seeks to destroy after the death of her son? Is it because she symbolizes the powers of the feminine that empower women on a deeper level? I encourage you to learn more about Kali and other divine figures from Indian culture beyond the confines of this broad overview.

While calling this lesson Mythology is a stretch, if you are using your reference book, "Mythology: The Illustrated Anthology of World Myth and Storytelling", the story is on pages 368-369. I encourage you to pick up a copy and explore all that world mythology has to offer!
