Okay, so, remember how last month we were reading the myth about Chloris, the nyphm-turned-goddess of spring? Well, last month, I got to sit down with Chloris and a few other goddesses of myth from Earth during Green Week! Check out our Instagram page to catch up on all the interviews and a few other adventures that Tales and I have been on since last month!
Alright, time to reveal a new myth to check out and spice up your writing pallet. While I have reference books on each myth, I encourage you to take to the internet and see how much information you can find!
This month, we journey to the lands of the Celtic and look at the sun-god, Belenus, and his mythical origins. Belenus is also known for fire, prophecy, and healing. The name Belenus is thought to come from the Celtic root bel, which means "bright" or "shining. While he isn't a sun god in the traditional sense, he is one of the most important Celtic deities of myth and is often compared to Apollo.
This myth is found in our trusty reference book "Mythology: The Illustrated Anthology of World Myth and Storytelling", on pages 258-259. I encourage you to pick up a copy and explore all that world mythology has to offer!
