fundamentals of writing fiction cover

Why do you want to be a writer? Why do you want to tell the story you're telling?

These are not easy questions to answer and yet they are necessary for any writer to know.

In The Fundamentals of Writing Fiction, we will find the answers to these questions while equipping us with invaluable tools of the writing trade.

This includes but is not limited to:

  • Understanding how to build a character from scratch.

  • Embracing Word Vomit as a Key Tool in Storytelling.

  • Getting an understanding of how to capture your audience from the moment they open your story through point of view, the 6 senses, and the use of language.

  • And More!

Hi. Tidbit here!

Every month I'm going to give you a suggestion of a new myth to check out and spice up your writing pallet. While I have reference books on each myth, I encourage you to take to the internet and see how much information you can find!

This month, we journey to Mesoamerica and look at the myth "The Five Suns" which talks of the cycles of life on Earth surrounding the chosen deities of the Sun over hundreds of years.

Big shout out to our trusty reference book "Mythology: The Illustrated Anthology of World Myth and Storytelling" for bringing this ancient myth to our attention (pg 546) and ThoughtCo. for providing a digital reference to the topic!
