Inspiration: World Building

ree

Click this photo to be led to an awesome article of the psychology of world building, because that's where this photo came from.

So as many of you know, or don't, I am studying creative writing at Full Sail University and i have reached the world building class. Now for those of you who really know me, I have had the idea, and even self published a watery first draft, for The Outcast Series. It is all I have even been able to talk about since I first came up with the idea back in 2012. Now I get a chance to be able to rip this world apart and give it the expansion it so badly deserves. But I've come up dry. Empty. Blank. Hance why I am on here now, trying to come up with the details right before your very eyes. So to start, The Outcast Series started as a story that held six different perspectives from six different characters, Lela, Seth, Astor, Amani, Tucker, and Ishandra. Ishandra gets kidnapped that is what sets the whole story into motion. It has since evolved from a simple world to an island. The concepts of The Maze Runner with its insurmountable walls have trickled into my subconscious. I think I have a better sense of the pre-world at this point better than the world that Lela and her family live in. We have Sonja as the leader as the Revelation, that's stayed the same, but her whole crew is underground in these maze like tunnels? Under the walls? I might have to start from scratch all over again because I'm drowning in the details that I once hammered down in a different mindset. Now everything doesn't seem to fit together. I like the idea of the island and the world outside of it not knowing anything about them, but the core of the story is a little sketchy. Guess i have to bring out the ol white board and get to planning again. Thanks for listening guys.

So that was the best flow of bullshit i have ever seen, don't you agree. might even put it on the fridge later. Get ya word vomiting done yall. Join the FreeWriters Club on Facebook and post ya best slop. Go. Do it now!

Expand Your Mind...

Let's face it, language learning isn't easy. But it can be fun and ultimately unite us across Lahnds and Rehlms. All we have to do is expand our minds. This is easiest understood by those who speak Earth English, but other languages from other places may also understand this language lesson.

Tip #1: Laugh every time you mess up and then try again. Every mistake is an opportunity to learn and grow. Embrace it!
