Storyteller Planet is, and forever will be, an expression of storytelling and a tool to learn the fundamentals. We believe that everyone has a story to tell and the best parts of any great story live in the roots. Through traditional textbook-style teachings paired with our experimental "interactive fiction" approach, the message remains the same. If you master the storytelling fundamentals-Plot, Character, World Building, Outlining, and Theme-then you can tell any story with everything you've got.

Most new (and sometimes seasoned) storytellers get gun-shy. The thought of a "fresh slate" can stop any idea in its tracks. Add in the never-ending list of doubts and the weight of being human, and all thoughts of continuing forward fly out the window. That's where we come in. We don't want you to give up. We want you to ask why.

-
Why do you want to tell this story?
-
Why does it excite you?
-
Why aren’t you taking the next step forward towards being a storyteller?
And if you ask back, “Well, where do I even start?” or yell, “I don’t know how the f&^% to do this s^%#!” That’s when we smirk and show you the way. Yes, it’s that simple. No, storytelling isn’t easy. It requires study, experimentation, and the occasional tantrum. We do our best to hold a space for that journey. But once you find what works for you, being a storyteller becomes fun.

Like a fictional adventurer who spends their days fighting in dungeons to later return to the guild, we like to see Storyteller Planet as the place you come to amid your lifelong storytelling journey. Grab resources, catch up with fellow storytellers, and learn something new before you head out to tackle your story once more.
Some days you’ll want to indulge in a Story Mode Chapter to practice the craft outside “your usual vibe”. Other days, you’ll be so wrapped up in the real world that you’ll forget us for a whole season. Maybe one day you’ll outgrow the ol' storytelling gig, settle down, and have a kid who grows up to be a storyteller. And then you remember us all over again, exclaiming with joy when you find that we’re still here with yet another experiment in the works. And your storytelling journey begins anew.

This is more than the creative writing blog that it started out as in 2020. This is a planet with locals who live to keep the eternal flame of storytelling alive through their work. It may be clunky, cringy, and downright hilarious at how hard they try. But that’s what being a storyteller is. And we wouldn’t have it any other way.

So we make this promise to you: For as long as we are able, all of us at Storyteller Planet will continue to educate, emulate, and protect the fundamentals of storytelling.

We all have a story to tell. It's up to you to decide if you're brave enough to tell it. Until then, we'll be here.
