I waited patiently at the edge

My water floaties on my arms

It was a hot day

The hottest day of the summer probably

I saw them walk back inside and with the slam

Of the door

I ran

Clumsily

Loudly

Pink flip flops giving me away as I kick them off

In the grass

And run straight for the beautiful edge

Blue, clear, and perfect

Water

That cholrine smell

The running waterfall

It was perfect

I jump right in without a care who will hear

I see them watching me from the window in

Disgust

But i dont care

My mom peaks over the fence and double takes

Yelling words that i cant hear

Because I'm underwater living my best mermaid life

Well my head is

And im kinda kicking like a mermaid

Stupid floaties
