The glint of the diamond chandeliers dazzled my sister as we walked into the lobby. I could faintly hear the venomous words mom and dad spat at each other through their prize winning smiles.
"How could someone as vain as you forget the card for his mother's birthday?"
"Well your perfectly nauseating schedule didn't have that penciled in."
I glanced over at Amber as she still gazed wide eyed at the chandelier.
"Have you ever wondered how long it would take for it to kill you if it fell on your head?"
I blinked back at her, " I am now."
Her cat slit eyes rested on me and she laughed a high pitched laugh. She wasn't very pretty when her demon side peaked out, but I wasn't about to tell her that. The crash of glasses could be heard and Iazily turned to see the chef chasing a wild haired girl dressed in a burlap sack and clutching a loaf of bread.
"Thief!"
The girl stuck out his tounge at him as he ran face first into General Swan, the overseer of the evening.
He grabbed her wrist and snatched the bread out of her hand. "Malkina! What are you doing out of your cage? You must come with me at once."
He dragged the wild child out of the room without protest and she turned, eyes falling right on me. They were a kaleidoscope of colors, her hair falling through the array. She blew a kiss at me as the doors closed forcefully behind her.
Amber slapped me hard on the back, nearly sending me topping to the floor, "Looks like someone gotta date!"
I glare back at her and fix my tie, "You're eyes must be blurred with the change."
A deep growl forms in the back of her throat as her claws reach towards me but our fathers whistle stops us cold.
"Come along children! Our table is ready."
Amber retracts her claws and follows obediently. I glance back at the door one last time before walking silently behind them.
See you all tomorrow!
