Good morning yall. It is 7:15 am as I sink into this comfy chair of mine and tell you all about meditation. It's good for ya. The end. All jokes aside, meditation has given me space to clear my mind and curb my anxiety-ridden mind, body, and spirit. Personally, I have found comfort in the last year with the Calm App. For those of you that know me, I don't like to be a walking advertisement, but sometimes you have to give credit where credit is due, and Tamara needs the most credit I can give her. So here we go.
The Calm App is a lifesaver for anyone that is on the go and can spare an extra $70 a year to subscribe to the app. There are a million things you can do on the app from a simple mood check in to sleepy stories that have you drooling all over the pillow right when the story was just getting good. Unless you have no life, you probably are saying that you don't have time for meditation or that it's hard to focus and not for you. Some of you probably dipped when I said the $70 a year. BUT, fear not my friends. I have a plan. Walk with me.
Let me tell you a little story about this girl named Shmoo. Shmoo had anxiety up the ass and always had a million things to do. She kept going in order to accomplish her goals, but nothing ever seemed to get done. She'd find herself sitting for hours mulling over all the things she had to do instead of just starting at the top of the list. Naturally, she was willing to try anything. She met a man named Ba, who was very persistent about meditation. When Shmoo first sat with it, she sucked. Fast forward to today, she still sucks. Having her mind wander off to who knows where then dragging it back like a lost child at the fair. And yet Shmoo loves this. Why? Her anxiety is gone. But this is not a one-all cure-all. Like hair growth formula, if you want the hair, keep applying. As ass as that sounds, Shmoo learned a valuable lesson when she found herself trapped in that whirlwind of "responsibility" and flies out the door without a single drop of meditation. Those panic attacks and anxiety comes breaking down the door and steals her away, without fail. It is a motivator to her to keep up her practice and use what she learns throughout the day. Because without it, well Shmoo just might not survive.
Meditation can literally be you setting a timer for ten minutes and sitting in silence with your eyes closed. No money, no subscriptions, just breathe. But guided meditation helps us come back to our breath and the moment itself when our brain wanders off like Heart in the Heart and Brain comics. If you find yourself consistently in a state of negative energy, whether it be full-on rage or anxiety from a temporary situation, try out meditation. It could save your life.
As always this "article" was written in the spirit of play. We hope you learned a little something today. Meditation is not for everyone, but it can be if you just let go and take time to just breathe and be. As Tamara says, "Have a great day, and we will see you back here, tomorrow!"
Namaste my pretties!
