So I'm sure all of you/none of you are wondering what my daily habits are as a person who is always going on about being healthier and happier. Now I was getting ready for the day today and I was actually surprised how much my daily habits have changed in the last five years and I was excited they had changed for the better. So I figured I must be doing something right and decided to share what I'm doing to be a healthier and happier human.
What people say to do: Wake up at 6am and go for a run 🤦🏽♀️ (let me get right on that, karen)
No offense to anyone named karen out there, but unless you have a genuine passion for running or are traingung for a marathon, no one is waking up at 6am. Unless its for the beach or to go to disney world, but that shits different. What makes it different? ITS FUN YALL.
What I do: Look at my week in advanced and accept the things that I can't change (even though I wish I could throw the whole thing away and start over sometimes). You need to prep for these things. Or at the very least be aware of them. How much time do you have in your day thats just free time? What are you doing with that free time? That is when you set your bedtime and wake up time. Why? Because if you get off of work or are done finishing your day by 10 most nights, its going to be hard to go to bed by 11pm. When you accept your reality instead of living mindlessly through it. Its rough at first. It makes it seem like your almost scheduling things at a certain time, and at first you probably are. But this is a training for your body to be aware of the fact that you spend five hours on Animal Crossing that you can put towards something you've been putting off for a while.
For me, it was writing. I always said I was going to write and then found myself never doing it. So I started forcing myself to write everyday. It would last for about a week at a time and then a month or so would pass in between and I'd get remotivated again for some reason and the cycle began a new. And yet today this is how my morning went:
Woke up at 8 (should've been 7 but whatever)
Took dogs out back
Used bathroom
Made tea
Kissed fiance
Went out back to put dogs up
Came out back to write this blog post
Sounds so simple right? You know how many times I've passed up the opportunity to have a morning like this? My excuse was that I was always too tired from working to get up early. Some days I still am and I get up at a shocking 10am.
Moral of the story:
I say all this to say that if you take a look at your week in advanced and plan time to do the things you love to do, you will feel more motivated to wake up and start your day. Whatever that is to you, doing something you love everyday no matter how small is the key to a happy life. I don't know all the answers to being happy, but what I'm learning is that as long as you keep trying everyday, you eventually get better. Who would thought right? Until next time!
